An Open RP Post, with a ~twist~. Basically, I love picture prompts more than life itself, so this is what you do.

1. You choose one of your characters.
2. You leave me a picture prompt and/or what character of mine you're requesting (if you don't request a specific one, I turn the wheel of RP fortune or something like that).
3. I comment setting up a scenario inspired/based on the prompt

Oh, he was. But he was a stand up guy when it came down to it.

[whoops, are those regretful feelings about Gabriel? They need a new topic of conversation.]

Anyway. Tracking wolves is about knowing what they're hunting.

The Fells.

[because somehow the Fells manage to outlive them all.]

There's a Forbes sheriff. There might be Gilberts out there somewhere, but they're not here.

[and of course, the only Salvatores left aren't here either.]

It's good to hear a few the founding families still exist, at least.

[ positivity is always a good thing, but no one can blame them for their wariness. every time there's a dance or event of some sort, things always end up exploding, either figuratively or literally. matt wouldn't mind actually having things go right this time, and he was slated to go with Rebekah to Homecoming.

funny how things happen.

they reach the school in no time via the narration's powerful timey wimey powers, and then he's turning to her. ] We could always make a run for it, you know. [ he's joking! possibly. ]

[A look. That is what she is giving you right now Matt: a look. Why? Because how dare you suggest she ditch a dance when she's finally getting to go to one. Sure, it's probably going to be a total disaster but if you think she's going to miss it you are insane.]

We are not going to run for it. We are going to go inside, and we are going to dance and if someone tries to ruin it I am going to kill them.

[And now she's joking!

[What a reflection shows rarely is the truth. Someone looking at Rebekah might see a beautiful young girl, but she's over a thousand years old, twisted and mangled up inside, like the wood of a dying tree that's weathered one too many storms.

She watches as it happens to Elena too. As the girl becomes less and less pure, less kind, less good and she'd be lying if she said there wasn't pleasure in corrupting her. They're vampires. They all end up corrupt in the end, might as well help her realize it sooner as opposed to later.

They're in the woods of a rural area, one they've hunted down. The two have taken to finding abduction cases (always young girls) and hunting down who's taken them, feeding and killing the men responsible. Usually, they're able to get there before the girls die, but not always. When they don't, things always end up particularly messy.

It's a twisted sort of justice, but it's what they have. It's how they've broken free from the power of the men in their lives. The Salvatores and her brother.]

The cabin should be close, now.

Exactly. Now, some wolves target people they feel have wronged them, or make them feel vulnerable. We ran into this one wolf in San Francisco who ate her boss, her stalker ex-boyfriend, and then tried to eat me when she figured out I was on to her.

[She nods. She feels so isolated, away from the rest of the world. People kept dying and leaving, until there was nothing familiar left but the town, and still she stayed.

She doesn't know why she stays.]

Have you seen anyone? Since you left? Stefan or Caroline?

Either way -- it's good to see you. I hadn't heard from you in a while and I was starting to get worried.

[she probably would have been down sooner if she hadn't been dealing with the Garuda.]

Well, I was a little out of commission for a while there, or I would have contacted you sooner.

I saw Caroline a few decades ago, while I was traveling through Spain. She seems to be doing fine, making new lives for herself.

[She had seemed so removed from the girl he had once loved, he supposes they both were now. Time changes people, no one's the people they used to be.]

I don't generally go looking for the Salvatores. [He was never friends with them, barely even allies most of the time.]

[ ...matt is going to blissfully choose to believe rebekah is joking.

it's why he turns to her, smirk in place. ]

Let's not get too crazy now. [ and with that, he hops out of the truck and moves toward her door. he'd never outwardly admit it, but it's nicer than the truck he has, runs much more smoothly than it could've ever done.

[She nods a little.] Peter Hale did similarly, going after the people who killed his family [Like her Aunt Kate.]

[Don't worry. She's joking.

Mostly.

Look she's had bad luck even getting to one of these if someone ruins this for her, all bets are off.

But for now she'll smile at that ridiculous charming smirk on hi lips, taking his hand as she steps out of the truck.]

I'll try to reel myself in.

Agreed. A million each.

[he nods]

Some wolves aren't even conscious that that's what they're doing. Some black out when they turn -- don't come to until the morning after.

[She nods again, before taking his hand and tugging him towards the Grill.]

Matt lived here his whole life. Had a family and everything. His granddaughter works at the hospital.

[she thinks he would have wanted to know.]

I would have called you for the funeral, but I didn't know ... I lost track of everyone.

[she hates that she did. she shouldn't have, but they all managed to slip through her fingers.]

[She glances back over with a frown.]

Okay. Let's start working on that exit strategy.

Not particularly. It seems my brother really can't be trusted at all anymore. Few can be.

I'm glad to hear that.

[And he was. Matt had been his best friend -- he deserved all those things.]

It's okay. I think most of us lost track of one another.

I'd appreciate that. [ though now the narration has the most amusing visual of rebekah going promzilla on everyone for ruining one of the big dances. it would be the best thing ever.

can this happen someday? it should happen someday.

matt closes the door behind her, and offers her his arm. he glances at her as he emphasizes the gesture. (she really does look beautiful, he thinks. hard not to think, considering.) ] Bad track record or not, I think we got this.
