Things may not have sucked as hard, but they had still sucked. Back when Vicki was stringing him along and his parents had died? For Jeremy, he couldn't remember a happy time after the car accident. But, there had been moments of respite, moments when he and Tyler had gotten along - never mind his "real" reasons for befriending the guy. He liked to focus on those. They'd even formed a sort of friendship the next year. It was patchy, but he remembered spending time with him.

Truthfully, he was hungry, but he spotted Tyler inside his dad's old office. His mouth curved into a smile as he caught sight of what he'd pulled out.
