Even when Isaac had time to study, he hardly studied. Yes, he had his own ... crap to deal with. He'll call it crap and leave it there. Some days he had to study, had to maintain that GPA or the crap from before would get worse. It helped him escape. Helped him be better than he was even if Isaac didn't think he was smart in the first place.
But, Derek changes everything.
The next year of his life becomes the best.
But, it ends tragically.
He pulls away from Derek, from Scott McCall. He has to. Maybe now's the time to finally buckle down and fucking focus. Because if he focuses on other things, he might scream. Argent picks him up some days. There's a vicious (and unfounded and gross) rumor going around about them. About Isaac's twisted relationship with the Argents. Some days, he tells Chris to shove it, that he's not a charity case, that Chris doesn't have to prove anything. But, Chris tells him time and again, he wants to be there, wants to help.
Isaac's a good kid.
So, Isaac promises to live up to how Chris sees him.
Most of the tables are taken up but the one Tyler Lockwood is sitting at is huge so Isaac doesn't bother asking before he takes a seat on the other side. He finds himself daydreaming. He finds it difficult to care about Pride and Prejudice. He finds he doesn't like the parallels he can draw when he looks up sparknotes and tries to actually understand it. He looks over at Tyler's masterpiece.
No, really. It's pretty good.
"That's really good."
Never mind Tyler is one of those students that would never give him the time of day before he'd gotten the bite.
