Let Them Bleed, Let Them Wash Away; A Tyler Open Post

[ooc: Basically, this is free range for people to set up scenes with Tyler. Can be canon, crossover, whatever. There will probably be spoilery things bc I am not dealing well with the events of the last episode, this is the warning for that. Also feel free to comment oocly with an idea, and I can set something up too.]

[ It breaks her heart to hear him talk like that because she knows how he feels, she knows how her father will never get to walk her down the aisle, how her father won't get to see her graduate or maybe go to college or truly believe how even though she's a vampire, she's honestly not a monster.

And she thinks of the things Carol won't get to do with Tyler, some of the same things and she just pulls Tyler in tight for a hug.] It gets a little easier. Sometimes I just... cry when something reminds me of my dad. A song or like, a smell. [ She wants to ask him how they ever expected to keep any of them safe, she tries not to think of her own mother, of how she could be next.]

[lockwood]

It wasn't like this with my dad. I was so angry at him when he died.

[It had been hard to feel the grief beyond that. He and his dad...it wasn't a good relationship. And while he still loves his father in spite of all that, he can't say it's the same.]

This is harder.

[It hurts, hearing when she mentions her dad, because he couldn't be here to help her with it. He couldn't trust himself, or Klaus at the time. It's one of his bigger regrets from that time.]

[coy]

You and your mom were closer. [ And Tyler's way different than he was when his father was alive. Plus his father... well, he was a jerk to Tyler to say the least. She reaches up to touch his face, thumb tracing along his cheekbone.] You're not alone, okay? And it's gonna be hard before it gets any easier.

[lockwood]

Thank you. [He whispers.] For staying with me. [Things have been strained lately, to say the least, but it's comforting to know that he can still count on Caroline. He hasn't lost her yet.]

[coy]

[ Her voice is soft as she stays close.] You say that like I'd rather be anywhere else.

[lockwood]

It's not that I think that. [He doesn't. But considering how focused he'd been on this stupid plan that fell apart anyways -- he hasn't been the best of boyfriends lately.]

I'm just glad. I don't think I could handle this house alone.

[coy]

[ Hanging out with another hot girl and then chaining up your current girlfriend isn't the best thing but then again, he was doing the right thing. And she knows it.] You don't, I promise, okay?

[lockwood]

Your mom's going to eventually want you to come home.

[Eventually, he's going to have to face it, that he's the only one who lives here now.

The giant Lockwood estate is left to one resident.]

[coy]

Yeah, when she's not working all the time. [ Which is never. And now the town doesn't have a mayor? Caroline's not sure who steps in. It may be her mom.]

[lockwood]

Right. [She probably will be working more. He hadn't even thought about that. Who was going to take over as mayor. His mom was supposed to be temporary after his dad died...but with everything else in mystic falls another election never happened.]

[coy]

She'll understand. [ She murmurs softly, stroking the back of his head gently.]

[lockwood]

It must have been hard for her, finding my mom. I know they were friends.[He closes his eyes for a moment, tryng to focus on the soothing feeling of his touch.]

[coy]

She... [ Her mom was crying, she could hear it over the phone.] She'll be okay. It wasn't easy, no. [ She keeps touching him, sweetly.]

[lockwood]

I just can't believe she's gone. [That's the first stage right? Shock?]

[coy]

Tomorrow is the worst day, if you can get through that, you can do this. And I know you'll be able to. [ Maybe tomorrow won't be the worst day but maybe it will be and she wants him have hope of some sort.]

[lockwood]

[He nods.] Guess I can't do much else but try to. [It's what his mom wanted.]

[coy]

I believe in you. [ She presses a kiss to his temple.] I always will.

[lockwood]

[He yawns a little. Suddenly, he feels absolutely exhausted.]

Maybe we should try to get some rest. So we can deal with tomorrow.

[coy]

Sleep would be good. [She moves to let her hand slide down his arm and back up again, trying to soothe him.] We need it.

[lockwood]

We do. Tomorrow's going to be long. [He leans in, pressing a soft kiss against her lips.]

I love you.

[coy]

But we'll get through it. Together. [ She returns that kiss, softly, slowly.] I love you too. [ She shifts to get comfortable, wanting him to relax enough to sleep.]

[lockwood]

[It takes a long time, but eventually, with the comfort of he presence there, he somehow manages to fall asleep.]

[coy]

[ And she'll hold him through the night, falling asleep after a few hours.]
