Open Post the Sequel

how to play.

1. Drop a comment with one or more of your muses. It can be empty if you want me to make a scenario, or you can toss one at me. If you want to just give me a prompt (a word, song, lyric, picture, phrase, anything), I can riff off that too.
2. In the subject line, you can specify any of my muses you might want to play with, or you can ask me to pick someone.
3. just rp with me. if something jives really well, maybe we can continue it in another one of these later, sort of like a super casual verse. if it doesn't, it doesn't.

The only reason Taichi went on this voluntary trip was because Mimi wanted to attend the museum, and everyone who went was given a free pass to bring a friend. Might as well get her in free of charge while also scoring some extra credit points. He didn't really need them, but they would certainly help. Science wasn't really his strong point or anywhere in his range of interests.

Which is why it takes Mimi pointing out the dinosaur bones for him to stop and take a good long look at them.

Visions of SkullGreymon rush to the forefront. He blinks hard to banish them.

"Uh, kind of... It's a little weird, I guess."

clueless together, as always

Science isn't exactly her expertise either but Mimi likes seeing things and experiencing what the world has to offer her, if nothing else. And she's much smarter than most people give her credit for. She's glad Taichi agreed to go with her -- it would have been lonely to go by herself. She's never been great at being alone.

Nor was she great at thinking before speaking. She didn't even pause to consider what memories it might bring up for him.

"I feel that way sometimes when I see cacti now."

It's hard not to think of Togemon. To expect them to become suddenly sentient, somehow.

"Not all cacti are that ginormous," he points out, forgetting that she spent the past few years in America and has probably been up close and personal with the huge saguaro cactus they have over there. "Dinosaurs are always large, and while Agumon might not always be, he gets that way. When he has to."

Taichi used to delight in making his partner digivolve, now all it does is twist something sharply low in his gut. People got hurt last time, and he fears that one day, something is going to happen to Agumon that he can't recover from.

It's probably not the time or place to be asking her this, but he does so anyway.

"Do you think it's right that we make our Digimon fight all the time?"

"It depends on where you go, some of them can get quite large in the deserts." Perhaps never quite as big as Togemon but still -- she's seen a few impressive ones in her time in America all the same.

For as oblivious as Mimi can be at times she doesn't completely miss the way Tai phrases that. When he has to. He doesn't seem as excited about fighting as he used to be.

The question catches her off guard a little and she doesn't know exactly how to answer at first.

"I don't think of it as forcing, I guess. They want to fight, don't they? Look at Goumamon, even when Joe was busy with school and trying to stay uninvolved he wanted to help."

These are concerns he's only really voiced to Yamato, something he's starting to view as a mistake. All he'd succeeded in doing was making himself look like a coward and a weak-willed leader, and he was really tired of being lectured how the digidestined were supposed to be lead. Or reminded of how he used to have no problem with rushing into a fight and doing what needed to be done.

Of course, that was before he witnessed all the destruction Digimon battles caused. So many people got hurt because of him, because he had Agumon digivolve without thinking about any of the consequences to others.

"I think it's more they feel that they have to. That fighting is the only option, what they're meant to do. They've been doing it with us since day one, Mimi. It's all they know. Is it really fair that we keep encouraging that?"

Mimi isn't certain how to answer his question. She wonders if she's being selfish again for not considering that at all. Is it unfair to the digimon to encourage them to fight? Palmon always seemed so happy to fight by her side, and even when Joe was trying to study Goumamon had wanted to keep fighting too.

That means something, doesn't it? Or is she just seeing what she wants to see again? Ignoring the bigger picture and what people have been trying to tell her?

It's still hard to know.

"I don't know. I'd like to think if it bothered them, they'd tell us."
