It's overwhelming and exhausting thus far, and they haven't even come to the feast meant to celebrate their union. From what Josephine has said, it's going to last hours, between the food and the dancing and Maker knows what else.

But at least they have a few minutes to breathe, a little time in the day where they don't have to be Commander of the Inquisitions Forces and Herald of Andraste. That solemn, still expression melts from her face when Cullen draws her near, and her arms snake up around his neck.

"Cassandra said it--that makes it official." She still can't quite believe her friend is Divine Victoria, even if she's starting to grow used to saying it among others. Betrys kisses him again, another gentle little thing, just taking comfort in the fact that she can be herself for a moment or two. "And you, my darling, are my husband."

It's going to be a long evening and it's already been a long day, but as taxing as parts of it sound Cullen wouldn't have it any other way. It's a small price to pay, after all.

Culenn brushes some of her hair from her face. "I am," He says with a fond smile.

"If I forgot to tell you earlier, you look beautiful."

One day of exhausting play-acting in exchange for a lifetime of living as husband and wife. It's a bargain, when one thinks about it.

"Thank you." She feels beautiful--she has on a dress of pale pink velvet and a crown of white roses in her hair, with a netted veil hanging from it. It's sumptuous, even by her standards, and the gold band on her finger is the loveliest part of all. "You look even more handsome than usual."

And that's saying something, because Cullen is a devastatingly handsome man on an average day. Not that she's biased, of course. Betrys reaches for his left hand, twining her fingers with his. "And what a fine ring you have."

"So I keep hearing?" No Orlesian nobles have cornered him yet but Leliana and Josephine had informed him about the disappointed whispers.

Lovely.

But a small cost to pay. Worth it.

"Almost as fine as yours" He murmurs, letting his thumb brush against it.

"Why, thank you," she replies, squeezing his hand. "A very fine gentleman gave it to me."

One so handsome, so kind, it's difficult not to kiss the living daylight out of him. Betrys moves a little bit closer, relaxing into his side. "I wish we could stay right here for the rest of the day. Just the two of us."

"Me too. Though Josephine assures me she found us someplace very remote for our honeymoon." And he's pretty sure Leliana has sent death threats to anyone who might try to infringe on it. So there's that.

"Has she told you where?" The thought of some time alone, just the pair of them in the depths of Thedas, makes the rest of the day seem so much more bearable. Her free hand strays to his collar, fingers gentle at his throat. If she had her way, they'd go straight to their chambers and get him out of every stitch of clothing he has on. "I've been so busy, I never thought to ask."

"She told me it was a surprise when I asked." Which makes him slightly worried because Josephine's taste is much more extravagant than his own but he trusts her to choose well.

"As long as it's a quiet surprise, I'm sure it'll be lovely." After this, Betrys suspects they'll need a long, isolated break. She's been so busy planning for the wedding and continuing with Inquisition work that even if it had been a quiet wedding, she'd want a long holiday.

"Josephine tends to be good at picking these things out. I trust she chose someplace we could relax and have time alone.

He's looking forward to that.

"She'd be angry if we ditched the reception wouldn't she?"

Betrys laughs, looking up at him with fond eyes. "I think she might murder us both in our sleep."

All right, not Josephine, but Maker, they'd be in trouble. She slides an arm up around his neck. "But--tonight, we have an excuse for staying at each other's sides. You'll never be alone."

He leans in to press a kiss against her lips, and then another one. "Oh believe me," He replies in a husky voice. "I plan on taking full advantage of that."

She makes a soft, hungry sound as she pulls him down for another kiss. Maker, when he talks to her in that voice, she wants to leave everyone at the reception hanging. "You're going to tease me all evening, aren't you?"

"That was the plan, yes," He admits with a smirk when he leans down to kiss her again. Maker, all he wants to do right now is kiss her. Among other things.

"I think you might drive me mad." Betrys plays with the short, soft hairs at the nape of his neck, letting her fingernails scrape lightly over his skin. "By the time we retire to bed, I'll be ready to tear your armor off."

"Perhaps that was my goal all along," He admits with a smirk on his lips. "I do so like it when you do that."

"You wicked man." She laughs, resting her cheek against his shoulder. "Next thing you know, you'll convince me we should skip the reception."

He laughs in response to that, stroking his fingers through her hair. "If I thought I could, I would."

"We had ought to go," Betrys sighs, leaning into his touch. "The sooner we make an appearance, the sooner we can claim excitement for the wedding night and retire early."

It's a bit embarrassing, realizing people will watch them leave and know exactly what they're off to do, but she's been so busy in the last few weeks that she's hardly had time to see Cullen, let alone do anything scandalous with him. The yearning to have him outweighs any awkwardness.

"You're right."

Reluctantly he begins to pull away from her, though he does take her hand in his instead. He wants to hold onto her in this moment in some sort of manner.

This will have to do until they can slip away.
