(and sure enough, five days later yennefer will be making her way to the location to keep lookout for any trouble, just as promised.)

Holy shit you actually came.

[She pauses, then she squints. Kady is not doing well, she is going to pass the fuck out once all this is done.]

Or am I hallucinating that you're here.

[bottle]

You're not hallucinating, I actually came. I too would prefer if the world didn't end.

(because she can't let it seem like she's doing this out of the goodness of her heart.)

[brakewoman]

Thank you.

[It's a relief to know that someone with clout will have their backs. She turns and points back towards the main room with the moon rock.]

We're about to get started over here.

[bottle]

Then I got here just in time.

(she doesn't feel the best leaving this all to a bunch of people on moon brain, especially when they're strangers, but the time for better options has been running out.)

[brakewoman]

[As they make their way in Margo lets out an exasperated breath. "There you are. I was worried you wandered ... who the fuck is this?"

Kady sighs.]

This is Yennefer of Vengerberg. She's our backup. Yennefer, this is ... the team.

[Eliot raises a hand with a wave. "Hi."]

[bottle]

Your pleasure, I'm sure. (they seem like an interesting bunch, to say the very least.)

[brakewoman]

Please remember that we all have moon brain.

[Kady says like they aren't a bunch of weirdos dealing with weird shit all the time. Then she tries to heard her moon brain cats around the pedestal so they can get started casting.

At least until Marina shows up to try and stop them.]

[bottle]

I remember.

(and then when marina shows up, yen gets to work, tutting her hands to try to cast a spell to freeze the other magician.)

I'd say I'm sorry but I'd be lying.

[brakewoman]

[Marina will GLARE hotly from her frozen position because god, of course it's Yennefer of Vengerberg. It's like Kady has designed this scenario to vex her personally.

But eventually the moon responds to their spell, shifts just the amount needed, and the crew is able to get some sleep again. Kady will make her way over to Yennefer, ready to collapse into bed but wanting to make sure it's clear.]

I owe you one.

[bottle]

You do. I will collect when the time comes.

(but the surges have stopped with the moon moving, and that serves yennefer well enough for now. )

[brakewoman]

[She nods and before she goes:]

After I've slept this off and while you're still in town - maybe we could grab a drink?

[Actually get to know each other better?]

[bottle]

You do owe me that, at the very least.

(and someone who has figured out how to move the moon and stop the surges seems like someone good to know.)

[brakewoman]

I'll text you.

[Which she will, after she's slept. A couple days later, they make plans to meet at a Brakebills adjacent but not affiliated bar. Given that both of them are not students anymore, it would be weird if they showed up at the physical kids cottage looking for a drink.

Kady does her best to arrive early, and settles at the bar, waiting for Yennefer to arrive.]

(yennefer is not early or late but precisely when she means to arrive, which is sharply on time. she finds kady at the bar and settles onto the stool next to her.)

You seem much more lucid now.

[brakewoman]

It's a wonder what a couple nights of good sleep can do.

[The world feels sane again, and she's not about to take that for granted.]

Hopefully having moon brain is not something I'll have to repeat.

[bottle]

I would not recommend repeating it too often, if you can help it. It might have detrimental effects in the long term.

[brakewoman]

[She shakes her head.]

I like my sleep too much for that. Also, it reminded me a little too much of being high and ... that's not a door I should be worrying about opening.

[bottle]

(yennefer tilts her head, curious but not invasive.)

It sounds like you know your limits.

[brakewoman]

You have to, when you're an addict.

[You become all too acutely aware of what's a step too far. She gets why magic likes to have it's fun with hallucinogens or other kinds of altered states, but Kady knows that's not a road that will end well for her, no matter how much she may want to disconnect from the rest of her life.]

Recovering, at least.

[bottle]

That would do it.

(addiction is never an affliction yennefer has had to struggle with, but she's seen enough magicians and witches who do. at least this one seems to know her limits.)

It must of been a risk then, allowing yourself to get to moon brain.

[brakewoman]

It was, but ... it was also the end of the world. If I do fall off the wagon, I can find my sobriety again.

[Not that she hasn't overdosed before, but she's got people looking out for her too.]

But it's not gonna matter if the world explodes.

Fair enough. I imagine your friends will help where they can too, you seemed to work well together.

(something yen almost envied as someone who usually worked alone)

When we manage to pull our heads out of our asses.

[It's rare, but it happens. But for now, Kady is interested in making a new friend, and they'll fade into polite conversation for now.]
