Joining the open rp posts bandwagon.
how to play.
1. Drop a comment with one or more of your muses. It can be empty if you want me to make a scenario, or you can toss one at me. If you want to just give me a prompt (a word, song, lyric, picture, phrase, anything), I can riff off that too.
2. In the subject line, you can specify any of my muses you might want to play with, or you can ask me to pick someone.
3. just rp with me. if something jives really well, maybe we can continue it in another one of these later, sort of like a super casual verse. if it doesn't, it doesn't.

Nope, she's pretty intently watching as the room dims and the previews begin to play. Sure, she's seen TV but it's not the same. This? This is a whole different sort of experience.]

But trust me, you're going to want to wear them.
[ All those gorgeous special effects. ]

But then she smiles.]
I suppose I'll just have to trust you.
[And with that, she'll slide them on.]

[ At some point of the movie, he's going to lean in. ]
So? What do you think? [ It's whispered, his voice, as he leans in. He's also wearing the glasses, dorky-looking as they are, but he's curious about her reaction. Someone that last lived in the twenties suddenly stepping into a modern era.
It's got to be amazing. ]

I rather like the queen though.
[It should be to no one's surprise that she prefers the evil, beautiful, haunting queen over the overtly pure princess.
As the movie continues she notices several of the other couples holding hands. It seems to be something many couples do on dates like these -- though whether this counts as a date or not, she isn't sure.
Either way though, she's placing her hand on the armrest, upturned, in case he wants to take it.]

They are vastly different to how they were just a decade ago, never mind several.
This isn't his first date. He's spent plenty of movie dates not watching the movie and getting to second base easily with Caroline so he doesn't know why the gesture makes him so nervous.
Makes him feel like he's fourteen again with no idea what the hell he's doing.
Matt places his hand into hers as it remains upturned, fingers slipping in between hers, thankful they're not sweaty or something as equally as lame as that. Safe to say it's probably a date at this point. ]

[It's silly, she's lived a thousand years. It's hard to remember what it felt like to be a young girl anymore, it was so long ago. She barely remembers the boy she had gotten her first kiss from (though she does remember her brothers giving him a hard time afterwards) or the first time she may have held someone's hand. The life she had before she was a vampire can be blurry and sharp as a knife all at the same time.
But this feels new, the way his fingers slip through hers, the way her heart skips a beat. And suddenly, the movie and the new technology that comes with it don't seem quite as interesting as the newness of that sensation.
Yes, safe to say this has properly transitioned into date territory.]

[ It's meant to be light, almost teasing, but he can't quite manage it. He knows it's dangerous territory he's treading, but when he's with Rebekah, he forgets a lot of things. He sees more than the vampire, more than the Original. Whatever Klaus has done is on Klaus, and when he's with her, he sees she's just a girl, who's lost like they've lost. Matt's felt lost for a very long time, ever since Vicki died, worse than when Elena broke up with him. He's uncovered lie after lie from his very best friends, his sister was a ghost, and life just got so screwed up.
He didn't know where he fit anymore. He didn't know who he was aside from good ol' Matt who was there when he was needed. But sometimes, he wants something for himself, too. He wants something to call his own.
And once his fingers slip through hers, giving her hand a light squeeze, it sort of clicks into place. For the first time in a long time, Matt feels like he knows what he wants. ]

And that just makes the moment even stiller.
He wants her. It's simple and yet profound. Her whole life, she's really just wanted someone to want her, to need her the way she so desperately always needs everyone else. And here she is, with this simple, human boy and she's finding something she usually can't. Perhaps it's something he's been trying to find too.
She scoots a little closer now, as much as she can with the arm rest between them so not only are their hands intertwined, but their arms are pressed up against one another, shoulder to shoulder.
She's more than content to sit and watch the rest of the movie this way.]

Like the rug continuously kept getting pulled from under him, and he didn't know who or what to trust. Rebekah at first was someone he was supposed to distract. She's fun and she's beautiful, both things he wouldn't be able to deny even if he wanted to, something that would be impossible not to notice, but he'd had to keep his distance.
He just doesn't want to anymore. Past the uncertainty of the world they've been thrown into, past the loneliness and anger that've wrapped themselves around him tight, there's a simple truth that he feels something for Rebekah. Matt's not thinking outside of this moment or how they got here, just that they did.
He sees something in her that he can't deny, either, and when she scoots a bit closer, he glances downward at her, finding that his lips brush against her hair slightly. He smiles at her a little. His hand remains in hers, his arm against hers, closeness he hasn't experienced in a while. Closeness he'd craved without knowing.
Quietly, he turns to her too, an understanding that it's simple and it's not.
He's more than content with watching the rest of the movie this way, too. ]

It just felt honest. Real. She can't remember when anything felt like either one of those things in her life. Though she's had lovers (more than she could keep count of) she had never really gotten the innocence of a young romance, not when she had been turned into a monster so young. Back in those days, dating wasn't a thing. Women were kept chaste until they were married off. It had robbed her of so many experiences, things she would never get to have.
But now she wasn't so sure. Not that she ever truly forgot what she was, or what she was capable of, but when she was with Matt, she felt like she didn't have to be just a monster. Like she could be just a girl.
For exactly those reasons, she knew she could never tell any of her brothers (save, perhaps, Elijah) about this. Kol already had mocked her at the ball, and Niklaus — she doesn't want to think of what he might do.
But for now, she wasn't worried about any of that, not really. Instead, she was just leaning against him, watching the rest of the film. She couldn't help but smile a little to herself as she felt his lips brush against her hair.
When it ended, she found herself staying still. She didn't want to get up and seperate just yet, but she knew she would have to eventually.]

He told Caroline he wanted to live without all of it, and at the time, he'd meant it. His life wasn't much, but it was his, something he had control over, something he could trust, even if it sucked. He couldn't trust any of them. He couldn't trust what was going on, couldn't trust that he wouldn't be lied to again, couldn't let go of his anger and his grief. Seeing Vicki again helped a long way with that, made him come to terms with a lot of things, reminding him of who he was.
And who he is isn't someone that would leave his friends to deal with it all on his own. For better or for worse, he's a part of the supernatural world, while being human himself. Invisible and sometimes cast aside.
In Rebekah he sees something that he recognizes through it all. She can make her own choices. She doesn't have to be defined by his brother or her family. He wants to believe that. To the point he does. Maybe it's stupid, but he isn't scared of her. Maybe he should let go of her hand, but he doesn't. He isn't sure he could tell anyone of it, either. He's not really thinking about that.
The movie is over, and he doesn't even know what happened to begin with. Matt finally turns to her, those ridiculous glasses on his face that conceal his expression that's indecipherable at the moment.
People start standing up, people start moving, and she remains still and so does he. He lets out a breath he didn't know he'd been holding, and finally turns to her, slipping the glasses off. ]
... Hey. [ God, Caroline would say this is such a lame guy movie. ] That was... something.

But here's the thing: he doesn't feel beneath her at all. Matt is kind, and genuine, and he treats her like she's an equal -- not a tool or just something to use. He's not trying to manipulate her like everyone else, and for the first time in a long time, she feels like she can trust someone, let some of those age old walls down, and she didn't even realize how much she needed that until suddenly she had it.
She takes her own glasses off as she hears him speak, smiling a little.]
It certainly was.
[She's not talking about the movie (though that had been a sight to behold, even if the story could have used some work in her opinion). She's talking about the experience of watching it with him, holding hands the entire time. It's such an innocent gesture and it seems silly to give it so much weight, but she can't help it.]
Thank you, for insisting we do this.
