Yeah. A pretty hefty one is going to be happening on the Harmonic Convergence. It's going to make it a hundred times worse - no one will be able to control any of their castings, and since people all over the world are going to be preparing heavy duty spells for the convergence, it's going to be a blood bath.
[End of the world shit.]
We have a spell to persuade the Moon to listen to us and fall out of alignment. But in order to do that, we need to have moon brain which means we're really not going to be able to watch our backs and I'm worried about what might be coming out of the woodwork to try and stop us.
[So she would politely like to ask Yennefer to watch their backs, because she's the closest powerhouse around.]
As I said, I wish this wasn't our first conversation. I know you have no reason to trust me. But I would really appreciate you watching me and my friends' backs when we're running on no sleep in five days and trying to communicate with a sentient rock in the sky.
I have no reason to trust you, but you either have to be stupid or telling the truth to approach me like this, and considering how things have been lately, I'm guessing it's a bit of both.
[And she will drop a pin for the location of the moon rock they're planning to steal, as well as the date five days from now once they've all got moon brain.]
(she doesn't feel the best leaving this all to a bunch of people on moon brain, especially when they're strangers, but the time for better options has been running out.)
[Kady says like they aren't a bunch of weirdos dealing with weird shit all the time. Then she tries to heard her moon brain cats around the pedestal so they can get started casting.
At least until Marina shows up to try and stop them.]
[Marina will GLARE hotly from her frozen position because god, of course it's Yennefer of Vengerberg. It's like Kady has designed this scenario to vex her personally.
But eventually the moon responds to their spell, shifts just the amount needed, and the crew is able to get some sleep again. Kady will make her way over to Yennefer, ready to collapse into bed but wanting to make sure it's clear.]
[Which she will, after she's slept. A couple days later, they make plans to meet at a Brakebills adjacent but not affiliated bar. Given that both of them are not students anymore, it would be weird if they showed up at the physical kids cottage looking for a drink.
Kady does her best to arrive early, and settles at the bar, waiting for Yennefer to arrive.]
(yennefer is not early or late but precisely when she means to arrive, which is sharply on time. she finds kady at the bar and settles onto the stool next to her.)

I would have to be completely unaware and stupid not to be. This is connected to that, then?

(Yennefer is smart enough to put two and two together)
So you need someone you can trust to watch your backs in case that happens. Someone who can hold their own. Someone like me.

Which means you're not a complete fool.

Can I count on your help?
no subject
Considering I have a vested interest in magic and this world, yes.

[And she will drop a pin for the location of the moon rock they're planning to steal, as well as the date five days from now once they've all got moon brain.]
no subject
(and sure enough, five days later yennefer will be making her way to the location to keep lookout for any trouble, just as promised.)
no subject
[She pauses, then she squints. Kady is not doing well, she is going to pass the fuck out once all this is done.]
Or am I hallucinating that you're here.
no subject
You're not hallucinating, I actually came. I too would prefer if the world didn't end.
(because she can't let it seem like she's doing this out of the goodness of her heart.)
no subject
[It's a relief to know that someone with clout will have their backs. She turns and points back towards the main room with the moon rock.]
We're about to get started over here.
no subject
Then I got here just in time.
(she doesn't feel the best leaving this all to a bunch of people on moon brain, especially when they're strangers, but the time for better options has been running out.)

Kady sighs.]
This is Yennefer of Vengerberg. She's our backup. Yennefer, this is ... the team.
[Eliot raises a hand with a wave. "Hi."]
no subject
Your pleasure, I'm sure. (they seem like an interesting bunch, to say the very least.)

I remember.
(and then when marina shows up, yen gets to work, tutting her hands to try to cast a spell to freeze the other magician.)
I'd say I'm sorry but I'd be lying.

I owe you one.
no subject
You do. I will collect when the time comes.
(but the surges have stopped with the moon moving, and that serves yennefer well enough for now. )
no subject
After I've slept this off and while you're still in town - maybe we could grab a drink?
[Actually get to know each other better?]
no subject
You do owe me that, at the very least.
(and someone who has figured out how to move the moon and stop the surges seems like someone good to know.)

You seem much more lucid now.
