Open Picture Prompt Post

An Open RP Post, with a ~twist~. Basically, I love picture prompts more than life itself, so this is what you do.

1. You choose one of your characters.
2. You leave me a picture prompt and/or what character of mine you're requesting (if you don't request a specific one, I turn the wheel of RP fortune or something like that).
3. I comment setting up a scenario inspired/based on the prompt

Sort of.

[this should be a surprise. She's going to surprise him.]

It's easier to show you.

[lockwood]

Show me what?

[He has a feeling she won't tell him.]

[braveandstupid]

[Nope. She's just going to smirk at him before reaching for his hand.]

C'mon. We need to go back to the real world for this.

[lockwood]

[He nods, taking her hand.]

I had a feeling that might be the case.

[braveandstupid]

[They ditch their headgear and make their way back out into the real Mystic Falls again. Elena doesn't say much as she leads the way back to the Lockwood mansion, stopping in front of the door, so Tyler could read the plaque on the wall.

"Carol Lockwood Memorial Museum."]

His family lived here for a long time, but eventually his kids grew up and moved out so he wanted to do something with the house -- for her, and for you. The areas upstairs are still living areas -- they're safe, but the rest of it is all stuff about the history of the town, and all the old Founders things.

He knew how much she loved it.

[lockwood]

[Tyler's quiet for a long moment as he just looks at the plaque, letting his fingers trace over them. It seems fitting, considering how much his mother loved this town and it's history. Of course Matt of all people would remember that.

Tyler had sent Matt packages and letters once every couple of years or so, to make sure his friend knew he was still alive -- so he could pass on that to Caroline and the others. Eventually, he had gotten a letter back from one of the kids when Matt passed away.

He was sad he couldn't come to the funeral. That he never got to meet those kids, or see the woman Matt married. Tyler may have escaped with his life -- but he lost a whole lot more.

Finally he lets out a breathe, a long moment having passed.]

She would have liked that.

She'd be glad all that history wasn't just lost. It was important to her.

[A hundred years hasn't made the loss of his mother easier on him, the guilt that came with it -- if he could have only done better, maybe she could have lived out the rest of her natural life.

But that wasn't in the cards.]

[She lets him process it, just standing there and let him think, because this is his mom, and she knows that if someone had done something like this for hers, she would need a minute too. When he finally speaks, she smiles softly.]

She was important to us.

[lockwood]

I'm glad someone remembered her. [And of course, it would be Matt.

He's wondered sometimes, what happened to the place -- it's part of why he finally came back. It's good to know.]

[braveandstupid]

[Knowing is better than not.]

He missed you a lot. There were a lot of things he wished you were here for.

[lockwood]

Me too. He sent me pictures sometimes, but I didn't often give him an address to do so at. [And even then it was usually P.O. Boxes, things like that.]

I heard that he got letters and stuff from you, every once in a while. It meant a lot that you tried to keep in touch.

[lockwood]

It was good to have someone to contact, sometimes. [Made things less lonely. Writing to Caorline, contacting her would have made her a target -- but Klaus didn't care about Matt, it made him safe.]

[braveandstupid]

Who do you contact now?

[lockwood]

No one, I guess. I don't really have anyone left to contact.

[braveandstupid]

[she considers that for a moment, before nodding.]

Me too.

[lockwood]

Do you ever hear from Caroline? [He can't help but ask.]

[braveandstupid]

Sometimes? She sends me an email every once in a while.

[lockwood]

How's she been?

[braveandstupid]

She sounds really good. It's hard to tell from an email, but she seems happy.

[lockwood]

I'm glad. She deserves to be.

[braveandstupid]

Yeah, she does. I think we all do.

[lockwood]

Yeah, we do. [But Tyler's made peace with the fact that it probably isn't in his cards. A life on the run doesn't lead to a lot of happiness.]

[braveandstupid]

[Not if Elena has anything to say about it.]

So. Do you want to see the museum or do you want to head back to my place where I have some really awesome scotch?

[lockwood]

Awesome Scotch. [He's not sure he's ready to go inside that place just yet.]

[braveandstupid]

Scotch it is.

[and with that she'll turn to lead him in the direction of her apartment.]
