Open Picture Prompt Post

An Open RP Post, with a ~twist~. Basically, I love picture prompts more than life itself, so this is what you do.

1. You choose one of your characters.
2. You leave me a picture prompt and/or what character of mine you're requesting (if you don't request a specific one, I turn the wheel of RP fortune or something like that).
3. I comment setting up a scenario inspired/based on the prompt

[He slides his own on, following her into the green room.]

[braveandstupid]

[Once they enter the green room, she slams down her visor and starts the game. The western landscape tries to be as realistic as possible, but it's still a little spaghetti Western feel to it.]

Did you ever watch those old Clint Eastwood movies? The ones where he was a cowboy?

[lockwood]

Yeah. They used to be some of my favorites when I was younger.

[braveandstupid]

Jeremy used to love them too. At least, until he hit the phase where he decided they were lame.

[lockwood]

I remember that, that point where you get too cool to like the things you used to like

[braveandstupid]

I'd still catch him watching one every once in a while. Some things you don't really forget.

[lockwood]

It's important not to forget too much. To remember people. [Because eventually -- they all die, the price of being immortal.]

[braveandstupid]

It is. And some people never really need you.

[lockwood]

And sometimes you let down the ones who do

[braveandstupid]

[Elena nods slowly, because that's a feeling she knows all too well.]

Sometimes you do.

[lockwood]

Those are generally the hardest times.

[braveandstupid]

But you get through them in the end. You have to.

[lockwood]

There's not a lot of other options

[braveandstupid]

And sometimes you find you didn't let them down as much as you think.

[lockwood]

Yeah. Sometimes.

[braveandstupid]

[there's a pause for a moment, before she moves a little closer.]

Why did you come back?

[lockwood]

I was tired of running. [A life trying to just survive and not put other people in danger -- it's lonely.]

I missed home.

[braveandstupid]

[the narration is keeping this part of canon because they can.]

Do you want to go back? Home, I mean. It's still there -- Matt wouldn't let anyone do anything to it.

[it kept Caroline, kept them safe just like he wanted it to.]

[lockwood]

[He's glad -- he couldn't do much to help when he had to leave, but he was able to give them something, a safehouse.]

Sure. Does anyone live there now? [Matt's grankids or something?

He kind of likes that idea. Maybe someone was able to make it a happier home than it ever was for him.]

[braveandstupid]

Sort of.

[this should be a surprise. She's going to surprise him.]

It's easier to show you.

[lockwood]

Show me what?

[He has a feeling she won't tell him.]

[braveandstupid]

[Nope. She's just going to smirk at him before reaching for his hand.]

C'mon. We need to go back to the real world for this.

[lockwood]

[He nods, taking her hand.]

I had a feeling that might be the case.

[braveandstupid]

[They ditch their headgear and make their way back out into the real Mystic Falls again. Elena doesn't say much as she leads the way back to the Lockwood mansion, stopping in front of the door, so Tyler could read the plaque on the wall.

"Carol Lockwood Memorial Museum."]

His family lived here for a long time, but eventually his kids grew up and moved out so he wanted to do something with the house -- for her, and for you. The areas upstairs are still living areas -- they're safe, but the rest of it is all stuff about the history of the town, and all the old Founders things.

He knew how much she loved it.

[lockwood]

[Tyler's quiet for a long moment as he just looks at the plaque, letting his fingers trace over them. It seems fitting, considering how much his mother loved this town and it's history. Of course Matt of all people would remember that.

Tyler had sent Matt packages and letters once every couple of years or so, to make sure his friend knew he was still alive -- so he could pass on that to Caroline and the others. Eventually, he had gotten a letter back from one of the kids when Matt passed away.

He was sad he couldn't come to the funeral. That he never got to meet those kids, or see the woman Matt married. Tyler may have escaped with his life -- but he lost a whole lot more.

Finally he lets out a breathe, a long moment having passed.]

She would have liked that.

She'd be glad all that history wasn't just lost. It was important to her.

[A hundred years hasn't made the loss of his mother easier on him, the guilt that came with it -- if he could have only done better, maybe she could have lived out the rest of her natural life.

But that wasn't in the cards.]
